Goal and purpose of course<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Swiss Institute of Feed Technology delivers high-level, practice-oriented training with minimal time away from the workplace. Across two four-week intensive modules, professionals from the feed manufacturing industry and related industries acquire the knowledge and skills they need. Graduates are equipped to understand and confidently operate state-of-the-art production plants and process technologies. Hands-on experiments \u2014both with and without product\u2014 create a direct link between theory and practice.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Preparatory correspondence course<\/h4>\n

Each intensive course is preceded by a preparatory correspondence course consisting of two 12-week sections, starting approximately three months in advance. The course is designed to refresh foundational knowledge and introduce new concepts. Expect a weekly workload of about 10 hours to thoroughly engage with the materials. Course documents can be accessed by participants on our learning platform at the start of the preparatory phase. They’re required to submit parts of their work according to a set schedule to the course management team.

\nProcess sequences from raw material reception to finished products
\nFeed science and animal nutrition
\nFundamentals of electrical engineering
\nSpecialized mathematics
\nThe knowledge acquired during the preparatory courses provides the foundation for the subsequent intensive courses.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Two four-week intensive courses<\/h4>\n

In the intensive courses, the students receive selective\u00a0training in all important areas of modern feed manufacturing\u00a0technology. The emphasis of training is on process\u00a0technology and flow sheet design. The practical training\u00a0offered in addition to theory enables students to understand\u00a0the working principle of machinery, to discuss test\u00a0results, and to familiarize themselves with modern laboratory\u00a0methods.<\/p>\n

The course program also includes electrical engineering,\u00a0controls (PLC and relay systems) and automation. An overview\u00a0is given of the wide variety of raw materials used in\u00a0the feed manufacturing industry and their influence on\u00a0animal nutrition. Also quality control and quality management\u00a0will be an integral part of the course.<\/p>\n

During the course, written examinations are held in order\u00a0to measure the success of learning. Course participants\u00a0successfully completing their studies, are awarded the\u00a0\u201eDiploma for Feed Production Engineer\u201c.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

  • Basic concept of feed & premix manufacturing plants<\/strong>
    \nState of the art plant layouts. The main process stages\u00a0and their equipment.<\/li>\n
  • Modern Process Technology<\/strong>
    \nFrom the reception of raw materials to the shipping of the\u00a0finished products, with an emphasis on the handling and\u00a0storage of bulk materials; aspiration, proportioning and\u00a0weighing; size reduction, blending and mixing, and liquid\u00a0addition; conditioning, hygienizing and compacting, as well\u00a0as cooling and drying of compound feeds; machine and\u00a0process control systems.<\/li>\n
  • Hands-on Training in the Training Center<\/strong>
    \nKnowledge of machinery; working principle of equipment;\u00a0operation, maintenance and safety precautions.<\/li>\n
  • Hands-on Training in the Test Laboratory<\/strong>
    \nPractical tests, in grinding and mixing; conditioning, hygienizing\u00a0and compacting.<\/li>\n
  • Electrical Engineering and Automation
    \n<\/strong>Basic knowledge of electrical engineering; starting procedures of electric motors; relay- and PLC-based control systems; process automation.<\/li>\n
  • Hands-on Training in the Electrical Engineering\u00a0<\/strong>Laboratory
    \n<\/strong>Wiring and troubleshooting of relay racks, basics of PLC\u00a0programming.<\/li>\n
  • Feed Science and Animal Nutrition<\/strong>
    \nKnowledge of raw materials, chemical composition of\u00a0feeds and their conversion; least-cost formulation and\u00a0quality management.<\/li>\n
